Sensei Bill Leith

I began my martial arts training in 1995 at Buzz Durkin’s Uechi Karate School in Atkinson, NH. In 2004 I began assisting with instruction of classes, shortly after becoming a full instructor at the school.

As student, it has been my goal to use the martial arts as a method to improve my overall health and well being. This has meant not only pushing myself physically, but mentally as well. My karate training has given me the opportunity to deal with the pressures and anxieties of life, to be a calmer and more balanced individual, and to connect with other people on a higher level than I believe I could have without the martial arts.

As a sensei, my goal is to give my students the same opportunity to improve physically and mentally through their karate practice. I believe that the dojo is a place where the karate student can learn to hone themselves for the better. I also believe that with the right teachers and atmosphere the dojo is a place where individuals from a variety of life paths and backgrounds can come together and engage in a fun and meaningful activity while learning from each other.

I am thankful to my family who continue to support me every step of the way, and to my students who continue to inspire me. I am filled with gratitude towards Sensei Durkin and the other seniors of the Uechiryu Butokukai who have mentored me on my martial arts journey. It is an honor to pass on what has been taught to me and to continue their legacy.
