Cross-Training (Black Belt Testing) Begins!
From November to May, select dojos in the association open their classes to all the candidates. Candidates are highly encouraged to take advantage of as many of these classes as you reasonably can. Past candidates have found that committing to an average of two "foreign” dojos per month through to end of May was extremely beneficial to their goal of black belt excellence.

The Performance Preview is for candidates testing for Level One, Two and Three Junior Black Belt and Adult Shodan, Nidan and Sandan Candidates. This being the first time, for this cycle that these candidates get to demonstrate their skill levels - it is a fantastic opportunity to identify potential challenges for the Black Belt Testing Review.
Black Belt Testing Performance Review - Shodan and Level One
BLACK BELT TESTING REVIEW on . The Review portion of the Black Belt Testing is where Shodan and Level One Junior Black Belt Candidates get to demonstrate their IMPROVED skill levels.
With the intense training from both their home dojo and the many available opportunities at the select dojos across the Association, combined with the feedback from the preview - the candidates demonstrate how far they have come. For those who need a little extra work, a BLACK BELT TESTING POST-REVIEW is scheduled for June 1st.

Black Belt Graduation Ceremony
This fantastic event is the culmination of a year’s worth of preparation, training and performance reviews. Once it has been decided that the candidates are continuing to the Graduation Ceremony, they will then be in a provisional state known as "Ho" (Shodan-Ho, Nidan-Ho, ect). This is a trial period where the candidates prove to the seniors that their decision to promote you was a correct one.
This period will end with the GRADUATION CEREMONY.
This year’s graduation will be directly after our Annual Uechi Convention.
